FearNot! developing social immersion in the VICTEC and ECIRCUS projects

This paper will discuss work carried out during the VICTEC (Virtual ICT with Empathic Characters) and ECIRCUS (Education through Characters with emotionalIntelligence and Role-playing Capabilities that Understand Social interaction) projects, and on the FearNot! immersive virtual learning environment (VLE). The design motivations of the FearNot ! application will be discussed and subsequent experimental evaluations to investigate children’s empathic engagement with the FearNot! immersive environment will be described.
